Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music was discovering a grand piano in the attic. It was awe-inspiring to see its capabilities. The parents of her May-Britt family as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as a career or hobby but to grow. She began writing lyrics of her own. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as a love for Bjork's style. Her mother had told her the songs she composed could be used to not gain fame for her rather to help people to see the importance of their work and influence to the world, she started performing them publicly. She began playing the piano when she was six years old and started making music when she was 9 years old. The family did not have any idea about it until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora's success was never her dream. As she says, she enjoys writing songs. According to her, she believes that music can help any person feel better.
